Experience Oulu's most beautiful winter landscapes with guided sliding snowshoeing.
This is a public tour with no minimum number of participants. Just look at the calendar for a free day and make a booking!
We meet at the parking lot of Pilpasuo, about 25 minutes' drive from the center of Oulu. (After booking, you will automatically receive driving directions to your email)
At first, we adjust the sliding snowshoes to fit the footwear, place the poles at the right height and familiarize ourselves with the use of the equipment.
After this, we begin the safari through the snowy forest to the beautiful Pilpasuo swamp, and as we cross the swamp, we also get to know the most beautiful winter landscapes of the Oulu. In Pilpasuo, it feels as if time has stopped, because the area has developed into an ancient 3,000-year-old seaside meadow.
Pilpasuo belongs to the national swamp protection program and the EU's Natura 2000 project, which aims to support biodiversity and protect the habitats of animal and plant species defined in the Habitats Directive. Pilpasuo's diverse nature makes it a favorable place for different animal species, and endangered plant and animal species are also found in the area.
During the safari, you can hear about the history and fauna of Pilpasuo as told by our guide. Safaris are carried out both during the day and by the light of headlamps in the dark, when with a touch of luck you can also admire the beautiful starry sky or even the northern lights.
The trip does not require previous experience in using sliding snowshoes and is suitable for all participants in basic fitness. The safari is always carried out with high-quality equipment.
