From 1 September 2026 to 31 May 2027, our rental shop is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 to 16:00.
Check the calendar for a suitable time, make your booking, and pick up your winter clothing from our Nallikari Experience Center.
The clothing is handed over at our Nallikari Experience Center (Nallikarinranta 10, 90510 Oulu, street level of the Nallikari Aalto hotel building).
Explore Oulu's Frozen Sea independently
Our rental shop is located right next to Nallikari shoreline and the frozen Gulf of Bothnia. During the winter season, you can rent a complete set of warm winter clothing and head out to experience the unique frozen sea landscape independently.
A 2-hour rental is a great option if you simply want to dress warmly, step onto the frozen sea, take photos, enjoy the Arctic scenery, and return the clothing afterwards.
For longer stays in Oulu, you can also rent the clothing for several days and stay warm throughout your visit.

What sizes are available?
Thermal clothing is available in a wide range of adult and children’s sizes. All sizes are regularly available.
Do I need to select my size when booking?
No. You do not need to select a size in advance. Our staff will help you find the right size when you collect the clothing.
Do tourists need thermal clothing in Oulu?
Thermal clothing is recommended when spending extended periods outdoors during cold or windy winter weather. The amount of insulation needed depends on the temperature, wind, activity level and length of time spent outside.
What should I wear in Oulu in winter?
Wear several layers, starting with a moisture-wicking base layer and adding a warm wool or fleece mid-layer. For outdoor activities, you will also need an insulated outer layer, warm winter boots, gloves and a beanie. Visitors who do not have suitable equipment can rent a complete winter clothing set in Nallikari.
Where can I rent winter boots in Oulu?
Waterproof winter boots are included in the complete winter clothing rental set from Nallikari Safaris in Nallikari. The availability of individual boot rental should be confirmed separately if you do not need the full set.
When do I need to return the equipment?
All rented equipment must be returned within the booked rental period and during Nallikari Safaris’ opening hours.
What should I wear to see the Northern Lights in Oulu?
Wear warm base layers, an insulating mid-layer, thermal outerwear, winter boots, gloves and a beanie. Northern Lights viewing may involve standing still outdoors, which can feel colder than walking or other active exercise. Northern Lights sightings always depend on weather, cloud cover and solar activity.
Can I try on the clothing before the rental begins?
The correct size is selected and fitted when you collect the equipment. The booked rental time begins at the agreed pickup time.
