Join us on this unforgettable half day adventure which takes you from the vibrant city of Oulu into the heart of Rokua National Park, one of Finland's most unique natural destinations and a UNESCO Global Geopark. Just over an hour's drive away, Rokua reveals rare landscapes shaped by the Ice-Age. Unlike the typical flat terrain forests in Finland, Rokua has a very varying terrain with rolling eskers, deep kettle holes, hills, tall trees and crystal clear lakes which create a one of a kind scenery making it a truly special place to explore.

We pick you up from your accommodation in Oulu in the morning and drive just over an hour through the scenic countryside before reaching the Rokua area. After arriving in the area your guide will introduce you to the region's unique nature and history. We will head deeper into the national park exploring different parts by vehicle and foot. The trails have been carefully selected beforehand, depending on the season, weather and wishes of the participants. We promise to let you experience different sides of the National Park – from elevated viewpoints to quiet forest paths and lakeside scenery.

Along the way we may visit some of Rokuas most remarkable natural landmarks such as Pookivaara, the highest viewpoint in the area with amazing views of the landscape or Syvyydenkaivo, one of Finland's deepest kettle holes formed during the Ice Age. The area is also home to rare plant and animal species not typically found in many parts of Finland including heather and crowberry as well as birdlife such as the Siberian Jay and with a bit of luck the rarely seen flying squirrel.

At some point during the adventure, we will take a relaxing break by a campfire in a traditional Finnish Kota. There you can enjoy traditional Finnish snacks and hot drinks in a warm peaceful shelter. This is the perfect moment to experience the adventure the way a true Finn would, by unwinding, taking in the silence and enjoying the warmth of the fire.

The tour is designed to be enjoyable year-round. In winter, the landscape transforms into a snowy wonderland, and the experience is enhanced with snowshoes and warm winter clothing to ensure your comfort. In warmer months, the trails reveal the full diversity of Rokua’s unique terrain and vegetation, also allowing us to go deeper into the park and enjoy it to its fullest potential.

After the entire adventure of walking and enjoying the campfire, we return to Oulu. Leaving you with unforgettable memories of one of Finland's most distinctive natural areas.

This experience is ideal for those who want to discover a truly special natural area combining activity, storytelling, professional guiding and a traditional campfire lunch – a truly authentic Finnish atmosphere.
