Oulu Reindeers & Christmas Trees (public)

Meet, feed, walk, and photograph friendly reindeer, and visit a Christmas tree farm in a peaceful countryside setting close to Oulu city center. Enjoy warm drinks and sweet pastries by an open fire inside a cozy wooden hut – a memorable experience for families, couples, and anyone seeking a touch of Northern Finland’s countryside magic.

This is a public reindeer experience available on selected dates. Simply choose your preferred time slot and book your spot!

Season: December 1 – March 31

Your journey begins in Oulu, where comfortable transportation takes you to a peaceful farm surrounded by Christmas trees. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed by a friendly local guide who will introduce you to the reindeer and share stories about their lives, habits, and their special connection to Finnish culture. You’ll also have the opportunity to change into thermal clothing before heading outside.

You’ll have plenty of time to feed, pet, and photograph the reindeer at your own pace. These calm and gentle animals make the encounter safe and enjoyable for both children and adults.

After spending time outdoors with the reindeer, you’ll step into a warm wooden hut (kota), where an open fire awaits. Here, you can relax and enjoy a hot drink (traditional Finnish glögi) and a freshly baked pastry, such as a Christmas tart during the festive season.

The experience also includes a visit to the Christmas tree farm, where you’ll learn how the trees are grown and cared for throughout the seasons. You can decorate your own tree – and before Christmas Eve, guests even have the chance to choose and cut down a tree.

This slow-paced countryside visit is perfect for families, couples, and anyone who wants to experience authentic reindeer life and Finnish hospitality in a genuine rural setting – all within easy reach of Oulu city.

• Children (4–12 yo): 149 € / person

• Infants (0–3 yo): Free of charge

On Christmas Eve (December 24th), Christmas Day (December 25th), New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, and other public holidays, the price may be higher.

Description of the area: The experience takes place on a peaceful, family-run Christmas tree farm where friendly reindeer live, located about 20 minutes from Oulu city. The farm offers an authentic glimpse of Finnish countryside life, surrounded by snow-covered trees and a calm rural atmosphere.
